And for a while it does just that. But then it quickly becomes more of the same and you'll quickly encounter that same feeling you did when you read novels two through five--that feeling you've somehow been here before and that the same thing keeps happening over and over again. One of the better Landover books. Thoroughly enjoyed it and look forward to more Lanover novels, now that my interest is piqued once again. Apr 12, Charlton rated it really liked it Shelves: fantasy. Enjoyable book, more about Mistaya than her dad. And we meet new characters and re-visit some of the older ones we've met. I liked this one a lot better than the earlier ones.

I still feel like there is a deeper level that is missing and there were some times that I wanted to smack the characters over the head. But it was pretty close to a Mighty Girl story, even if she was a bit whiny at times. Strabo is still best. I think Strabo is the real hero of this series. May 13, Kristen Lancia rated it really liked it. Overall I liked this book. It started a little slow, but I feel like it came into its own once the setting moved to Libiris.

However, the conclusion was summed up a little too quickly leaving me feeling somewhat unsatisfied. I did enjoy the open ending and hope there will be another in the series so I can find out what happens to the characters next. Sep 27, Emilee Powell rated it it was ok. I had such high hopes for Mistaya after her showdown with Nightwish, but unfortunately all her growth and development from the previous book magically disappeared and she became a insufferably bratty princess once more.

Then it capped it all off with a cliffhanger. I despise cliffhangers. Apr 08, Amanda Bhear rated it it was amazing. I love Landover! Princess Mistaya Holiday is now 15 yrs.

The lady is saying they had to sedate the girl who was bothering her. She scared them with it. Misty asks her what does she mean? Misty takes the letter, she goes to her room, leaves a note to her roommate. She leaves everything that is about this school. She finds her mud puppy Haltwhistle, waiting for her. She starts walking home to Sterling Silver when she sees a shadow coming toward her.

She wonders why he is over here. He tells her she is not to use his image to frighten people again. If she does, he will be forced to come after her. She says ok. He flies away. She goes home. She goes too her room. He is trying to keep from going crazy. He can't let her get away with it! But what can he do? Willow, his wife is trying to tell him that he needs to let her go her own pace. He needs to try to ease up. He's trying. Then, one of the worst things happen.

Lord Laphroig, who seems to be dressed strange for him, has come to see him. He always wears black. Ben is really suspicious now. Then he finds out what is going on. Lord Laphroig has come to ask for Misty's hand in marriage.

She is only 15! Ben is able to control himself to tell the man he'll think about it. Then his wife killed herself. He would mourn them, but he needed an heir. He was then excused. That was talked about, no one believed his family had died naturally.

Everyone thought he killed them like he killed his older brother. Ben sent Bunion to check things out at the Lord's castle.

Misty runs into him on the way back to the castle. She is in the castle fast. She tells him what "The Frog" said. Ben tells her he was trying to be polite but she thinks he should have just thrown him out.

She goes to her room. Willow tells him to relax on her for a while. They tell her that is what she will be doing in a little while. She doesn't think this is the way her life should be. She sneaks off in the middle of the night. She goes to her grandfather, the river master, he is a wood sprite.

He tells her she can stay the night but he will not be part of her family feud. She will have to go home. It helped both her parents at different times to save their lives.

He gets to her to think about where the last place everyone would look for her is. The library. She doesn't want to go there, but she does. The boy, Thom who is working there tells them she is his sister. They don't believe him but let her stay anyway. She helps him straighten things up.

She is told not to go that way. Thom had heard it as well, but almost got suck into a tunnel when he looked. They decide to look together at night. Ben has had every one looking for Misty everywhere. She isn't found anywhere. He has his people searching as well. He goes to see her, they agree to leave her there to finish the project with a spell to call for help if she needs to. He leaves but doesn't tell her parents as agreed. The person running the library is making a deal with the demons to steal magic books to set a trap to get rid of the king.

Thom is locked up. She gets thrown in. The guy, Crabbitt, tells her he had always known who she was. Thom did as well, he had seen her when she was a child. Thom is "The Frog's" younger brother that disappeared several years ago. He just decided to hide out here, it was easy to work here.

Crabbitt is a wizard, he shackles her hands so she can't do magic. He is told he wants the Princess or he is going to lose is home. They realize what she did. The frog slaps her, Crabbitt shackles her again. Strabo flies in to tell her what he thinks about her using him to scare people again. She tells him, that they are forcing her to marry this man. That is why she used him to scare them.

He tells them to let her go or he will eat them. Strabo goes off to snack on some knights. They get to meet Thom, the new Lord. Shelves: read-in , pc. All these years later I have just finished book six of the series, A Princess of Landover. Princess Mistaya has been sent to King Ben's world to attend a boarding school. There's just a few problems with that, she has an adult mind thanks to her mother's faery heritage and a teenage body, thanks to Ben's genes.

She gets herself expelled as quick as she can and goes Jordan Darymple introduced me to the Landover series in eighth grade when he reviewed Magic Kingdom, For Sale, Sold!

She gets herself expelled as quick as she can and goes home. But that's just the start of Mistaya's problems. To teach her some self restraint, Ben comes up with a new plan.

He sends her to a library internship at the royal library — a magical building that has been long forgotten. Here's where for me the book became the perfect fall read for me. When I began the book I was only a few weeks into my own cataloging internship.

Mind you, the library I was working in wasn't semi-sentient, nor was it being invaded by creatures unknown. It was a fun read and oddly appropriate for me at this time in my life. Jul 31, DavidO rated it really liked it Shelves: 4-orstars. She's very much a typical teenager. She wants to be good, yet she finds the rules that she has to live under unfair, so she rebels. First by getting kicked out of school, then by running away from home and worse as the book progresses. She eventually finds herself at a magical library where she has to solve a mystery without getting her or her friends killed.

I'd classify this as light fantasy. It's in a magic world, but it isn't as complex as the Wheel of Time. There is some humor, but it isn't as over the top as the Discworld series. The world is in some danger, but not that much. The bad guys are evil, but not too evil. Apparently thsi is the beginning of more books in this series, based on the way it ends, but it does work as a stand alone novel.

Hopefully it's not over - there are enough hints that it might pick up again The other 4 books were about a guy from Chicago who buys a magic Kingdom and then has to fight for it. Now that he's married a magical wife, saved the kingdom numerous times, fought of Demons, a witch, and old Wizards, and made peace with a Dragon somewhat?

Refreshingly, this book is mostly abou I loved this series. Refreshingly, this book is mostly about his Daughter's adventures. Why not? Even 15 year old magical Princesses can be stubbornly self-absorbed and rebellious.

And bad guys won't stop at anything to use her to take over the Kingdom. Lots of fun. Feb 13, Brittany rated it liked it. I couldn't decide whether to give this 2 or 3 stars. I ended up going with 3 stars because I liked the rest of the series so much. I didn't really feel this was a fantasy novel, this was more like a coming of age novel about Mistaya. It was filled with a bunch of teenage angst and nothing really fantastical.

My hopes started to lift when I realized a good deal of the story was going to be set in a magical library but they were quickly dashed. I followed through with this book because I wanted to I couldn't decide whether to give this 2 or 3 stars. I followed through with this book because I wanted to complete the series but the ending of this book is left kind of open leading me to believe there just might be another Landover novel.

Not sure how I feel about that. Listened to this. Great reading. Fun for what it is. Mar 14, Kelsey Hanson rated it it was ok Shelves: fiction , fantasy.
